Genie pants and falafels

One of the many reasons I came to Jerusalem was to get these bad boys: (thank you JBod for introducing me to them last winter...)
I know they're ugly, but I love them. And I'm not the only one. The girls wear them around here like nobody's business. Not a day goes by that I don't see a pair of genie pants around the center. They're so comfortable/airy/great. My two favorite things that I've bought in Jerusalem so far: genie pants and falafels. And eating falafels in genie pants would just be the greatest thing ever. Before we got here, they told us our school schedules would be "rigorous". We do do a lot of reading, but we only have class 4 days a week and a field trip day. Tuesday we have class until 6, but the rest of the days we're done with class before lunchtime. Yesterday we only had Old Testament and then had free day the rest of the day. Aside from all of the reading they give us, school is not "rigorous"--at least in the way I thought it was going to be--but I'm not complaining. I think some people are stressing too much about it.
Not me.

Sometimes we hang out with this kid named Zane who has a really nice camera. He's nice enough to take pictures for us and then let us have them (unlike some people who take pictures for us and then never let us have the pictures...) He took these last Sunday. Sunday is our free day because we have shabbat (Sabbath) on Saturday.
We ate lunch in "the cave". I look like a dork and I'm sporting our BYU water bottle...so I'm more dorky than usual.
Tonight we're going to the Western Wall at sunset. We're not allowed to take pictures because it's shabbat tonight and it's also Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish New Year. Everything in West Jerusalem has been closed for the new year because they have 3 sabbath days in a row. I've heard about the Western Wall (Wailing Wall--we're not supposed to call it that) all my life, but I never in a million years thought I would get to go to it. Everything here is a new and great experience.

Shana Tova!
